Tell us about yourself and what you do at Asset Factory.

At university I studied as a graphic designer, so I understand those traditional creative processes. Things like composition and colour, I have that background.

Before working at Asset Factory I travelled… a lot. I also lived overseas for a while. In Melbourne, Indonesia and New York. Melbourne 2008 I was working across visual merchandising, graphic design and styling for some of Melbourne’s leading creative agencies and retail brands. In Bali I was styling and managing start-up brands. Local and international, I ran my own thing over there. Then in New York I was styling for contemporary indie brands, continuing my career in the fashion industry. I moved to street fashion and worked in operations and across the creative and merchandising aspects.

I have always been creative. That’s my thing. Travelling the world and living just inspired me even more.

Where do you get inspiration for creative projects?

I draw a lot of my creative inspiration from travelling. The music, environment, food and fashion. When I lived in New York I went out every single night. Whenever there was something to check out, I made sure that it was a priority in my schedule. Being exposed to such a vibrant energy is so exciting. I have met some of the most eccentric people I’ll ever meet in my life. It was basically a fashion show 24/7.  I feel very fortunate to have first hand experience as to how different cultures impact how people express themselves creatively and through fashion.

I always have my finger on the pulse. I love to keep up to date with what’s new and what’s local, so I have really enjoyed coming back to New Zealand. We have some amazing brands and creative people here. I feel proud to be supporting that community through content.

Is there a particular project you’ve enjoyed the most?

I enjoy the variety of clientele that come through Asset Factory. The opportunity to work with such a diverse range of people, across so many different industries is very exciting. One day I might be styling garments on the ghost mannequin machine, the next shooting a creative campaign for a food and beverage company. Everyday is different.

It’s also very exciting working with New Zealand brands and helping to bring their visions to life. I love keeping up to date with what’s new in our local market and community. That’s really important to me. I get to be a part of the process and see the project come full circle. The end result, seeing those images online, it’s an extremely rewarding feeling.

How do you enjoy spending time outside of the office?

My family is everything, so time off is spent with my husband and two year old daughter. We’re a really creative household and every day is a new project or new adventure. Either that or food! Food is really big and we love going out to eat. Whenever there’s a chance to have a date night, we do food.

After recently arriving back in Auckland, things have definitely changed. We’re really enjoying being surrounded by our extended families and taking in the beautiful scenes that New Zealand has to offer. I’m enjoying life slowed down.
